I have extensive expertise in the field of microbiology and virology (>10 years) and have been involved in microbiome and metagenomics research for the past 4 years. As an Assistant Professor for The Alkek Center for Metagenomics and Microbiome Research (CMMR) in the Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), I am in charge of directing a group of project managers that support the CMMR in managing over 250 collaborative projects with 150 collaborating groups spanning multiple research fields including clinical, environmental, and industrial research topics. My duties include: 1) Contributing to research projects in design and execution to evaluate associations of diseases with microbiome signature and to unravel the biological mechanisms behind such associations. 2) Coordinating efforts for data analysis, interpretation, contextualization, and presentation. 3) Manuscript generation and grant applications stemming from the multiple collaborative projects. 4) Overseeing a team of five technicians in charge of sample processing and QA/QC analysis upstream of sequencing. 5) Directing bioinformatic development and data analysis efforts with a team of five bioinformaticians.
