Jose M. Munita received his medical degree from Universidad de los Andes, Chile in 1996. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Clinica Alemana – Universidad del Desarrollo School of Medicine and then moved to the US to complete his Infectious Diseases fellowship at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he followed the Advanced Academic Track. His research interest includes the molecular mechanisms of bacterial resistance and their implications for clinical practice. Dr. Munita is currently based in Santiago de Chile where he is the Director of the Genomics and Resistance Microbes (GeRM) group at Clinica Alemana – Universidad del Desarrollo. Dr. Munita also holds an adjunct appointment with UTHealth, serving as the Director for International Research for CARMiG.
